  • Recently I was annoyed when I was editing my articles that I need to take care of properly handling external links. I wanted them to be opened in a new page and I wanted them to be shown with a small icon as prefix, so everyone know that it is an external link that does not belong to my page. So I searched for a ready plugin and found WP External Links that exactly does this job for me. The only thing I had to do was to modify the /wp-content/plugins/wp-external-links/css/external-links.css file and add an additional image to /wp-content/plugins/wp-external-links/images because I didn’t like the default look and feel.
  • Another plugin that I found is the Broken Link Checker gives you a reports when you have links that do not work anymore in your articles. This helps you to fix them more easily.
